I have planned to blog all our previous GVD events which we did. So going to back to 6 years.
Date : 30th Oct 2010
Me, Divya, Boya and other team members was decided to do the tree plantation drive. Searched for the person who can help and guide us on the tree plantation. We got help from Kapil Sharma, Say Tree Organization founder and a great nature lover. We did a good preparation for this project and all the team member who are participated on this event are most energetic and worked whole hearted.
In year 2010 i was working in night shift and the day before event we closed our work by 12am and started preparing the charts with green revolutionary slogans and promoting go green. All volunteers ( mainly GDQ team ) maid about 30+ posters. It was really great team effort and i was existed and happy to lead that event. All morning shift team members worked on other logistics lead by Divya.
How the event went on ....
6.30 am : All the night shift members who were part of volunteer team freshen up and started from IBC office. We have arranged vehicle for them.
8.30 am : Completed breakfast started first tree sampling. Kapil and team showed us how to do. Then we started planting samplings more than half completed before 12:30 pm. Then break for lunch.
2pm : Post good amount of hard work every one had very nice lunch. Then restarted rest of the planting and watering subsequently.
4pm : Almost completed with 100 samplings and did watering for all them.
5pm : There were good snaps taken by tagging volunteer name on sampling. Kapil had done good work by taking all volunteers names and got the name plates which we tagged to sampling after planting. Closed the event by thanking all the volunteers.
Highlights:
It was really a great success as i have seen the trees after 3 years 50% of them are grown up well. Say tree took initiative of watering them for next 6 months.So the trees are sustained. They were promising. Our Plantation drive inspired few persons who were passing on the way. They came and helped us out on plantation activities. Near to our GVD project location, college students inspired by the event and asked us about the tree plantation drive details which they wanted to do in near future. We put the posters at event place which really given message to them the importance of the project.
